Though originally from Italy and eventually returning there to carry on the legacy of his ceramicist father Guido, Bruno Gambone spent some time in New York in the 1960s, running in the same circles as Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. Bruno once said, “We are born from earth. [From Gaea, goddess of the earth.] We are born from it and go back to it when we die. And between birth and death, there is a story made of everyday earth.” We would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the ’60s but we think his earthy vessels have their own stories to tell.
